John
has served as CTA’s Head Coach since
2002. He is currently an ASCA Level 4 coach with 14 years
experience. John has devoloped and coached High School
All-Americans, Junior/Senior National Qualifiers, as well as having
had 2 former CTA swimmers qualify for the 2008 Olympic
Trials. In 2006, John was named the Southeastern Coach of the
Year.
He
received both his B.A. (mathematics) and his M.A.
(education) at Whitworth College in Spokane, Washington, where he
swam during his collegiate years. He received his second
Masters Degree in Applied Mathematics in 2006 from the
University of Alabama. His hobbies include swimming (for
fitness and fun) and, of course, fly-fishing the Gallatin
River outside his beloved hometown of Bozeman,
Montana. His wife, Caroline, works in the Psychology
Department at The University of Alabama. They have two
little girls, Kathryn and Sophie.
Nancie Blewitt
White (Novice)

Nancie has been
coaching for Crimson Tide Aquatics (formerly TUSC) for over thirty
years. She also heads the Tuscaloosa Parks and Recreation
swimming program. Nancie has a bachelor’s degree from
Muskingum College in Ohio and a master’s degree from Cornell
University. She has been teaching mathematics at
Shelton State Community College since 1994. Her husband,
Bing, is a professor at The University of Alabama. They have
five children. All five of their children swam for Crimson
Tide Aquatics and one went on to swim for The University
of Alabama. Two of their grand-daughters swam
for Crimson Tide Aquatics.
Lisa Berger

Lisa is a former All-American
swimmer for The University of Alabama (1982-1986). She was a
member of the University’s only women’s SEC
championship swimming team (1985). Lisa has previously
coached the summer Northwood Lake Swim Team and the CTA
Master’s Swim Team. She has taught elementary school
for the past 18 years in Tuscaloosa. Her husband, Don, is
also a former All-American swimmer for The University of
Alabama. They have three daughters, all of whom swim for
Crimson Tide Aquatics.
Margarett Frisby
White (Novice)

Margarett is currently a sophomore with a Pre-Law/Criminal
Justice Major at the University of Alabama. She plans to
finish her Undergraduate work at the University of Alabama and then
pursue Law School. Margarett worked for 4 years as a swim
instructor, lifeguard, and swim coach in Memphis, TN, her home
town. She swam for Memphis Tiger Swimming from 2001-2008.
Margarett is so glad to join the Crimson Tide Aquatics
staff in 2009.
